New Park

While we keep moving every few years we at least get to keep trying out new parks. We have already been to the city park, which isn’t all that great other then the swings. This Saturday we tried out the school park. I was having an awful few days and figured we all needed to get out of the house. So I packed snacks and headed to the park with the kids.

This park is full of monkey bars. I realize it was made for school kids for recess but my goodness! It isn’t very kid friendly.

James is almost 5, Gideon is 3 1/2 and Faith is 1 1/2

Even though most of the park is monkey bars they love this little bridge. We play “The three billy goats gruff”. Guess who gets to be the ugly troll? 😉

This park also has three slides all in a row. This is also a lot of fun. Because we were the only people at the park I let them take off their shoes and climb up them.

Going to the park really helped our moods. However we had some major falls that were really scary. I am so glad the kids are alright. Here is my facebook post when we got home.

“Today I decided to blow off everything I needed to do this morning and take the children to the park. They had not been out of the house since Monday and I had only left once all week for a brief appointment. We had fun except Faith had a major fall, from pretty high up, and landed straddling the handrail which flipped her over and landed on her face. I honestly don’t know why we didn’t have to run to the ER and have her put in a body cast. Other then some bruises and scrapes she seems fine (I have been closely watching her walk all day). She cried not even 5 min. Less then 10 minutes after Faith fell James had a pretty bad fall out of a swing. His mommy might have pushed him too hard. He seriously flew through the air head first and landed on his face. Amazingly the skin was not broken. He also cried less then five minutes. Gideon was the only one that didn’t get hurt at the park, however this evening James knocked Gideon over and I think he bit through his top lip. Blood on both top and bottom of his top lip. the cut its self seems to be pretty small, so I think he will be fine. I am over this day and injuries! I can not believe how fast kids recover from falls! If any one of the top things happens to me I would be at the doctor or at the very least the chiro whining about all my pain. Giving thanks today that every one seems to be alright.”

Sadly by 11 it was so hot we had to leave to get out of the sun. There is no shade at this park. But the kids and I had fun, and when we got home Daddy had cleaned the whole house for me! 😀

The last day of fall

It’s the calm before the storm. We reached almost 70 degrees today. But the cold and snow are coming this week. So today was the last day of fall and I thought a trip to the park would be fun. It was beautiful!

Running races (James has quite a bad attitude towards losing. We need to work on that)

As the sun set the cold started coming and the kids feet were wet so we had to go home sooner than I wanted. But not before snapping this picture. Check out that sunset behind them!

When we got home I told the kids that we needed to clean up the back yard because it was probably going to snow tomorrow. James said, “Snow? I love snow!” At least someone is happy about it. 😉

Today at the park…..

It’s been on the cold side (all you MN people be quiet!!) for the last few weeks and we haven’t been to the park in a while.  My boys I think have cabin fever or something, from not going anywhere.  So today when it reached 60 I packed everyone up in strollers and a bike and took them to the park.  By the time we got there the wind had kind of picked up and Gideon was mad because James brought a bulldozer and he didn’t have one.  The snow has been melting all day so there were large puddles all over the place, which of course my boys had to play in.  Do you know what happens when little boys play in puddles in Feb???? THEY GET COLD!!! James decided he didn’t want to ride his bike home and of course he would do that to me on the day I took the stroller and not the wagon! This was the very first time I had taken the double stroller with Faith’s car seat.  As you can see below the stroller wasn’t made for two toddlers, a bike, a car seat, and a baby.  Something (or one) had to be bumped off.  I am soooo happy I threw the Moby in the stroller last minute!!

I totally wore the wrong skirt to the park.  I love love love the long maxi skirts, but when there is slush on the ground it gets so dirty.  I really hope I can get it clean.

Both boys were crying because they were cold. At least Faith was nice and warm in the Moby. She was asleep too!

It’s almost all up hill on the way home, and before you think I’m amazing, I only made it about a block before Titus came to get us. 🙂

You might think the park trip wasn’t worth it, and I might have agreed with you except for the mom I met there today.  I never caught her name, but I do know that she:

a. Had three kids in three years

b. Grew up on a farm in Montana (her parents are visiting right now and as soon as I saw her dad I knew they were farmers. 😉 ) I think she was home schooled too.

c. Moved here with her husband to go to Denver Seminary

d. Her husband is going to school on the GI Bill (no joke!!)

e. When I said that because of the GI money and some VA disability money and really cheep rent Titus doesn’t have to work and is home a lot she just nodded her head and said, “My husband too.” (No this isn’t a dream!)

f. She literally lives just a few blocks from us.

She got my number and I really really hope she calls me and we can have them over. She said that they live in an apartment and don’t have a yard or anything. I told her to come over any time because we have a great backyard that is fenced in and lots of riding toys for the kids!! God works in such wonderful ways! 😀

When I thanked Titus profusely for coming to get us he said, “You were only 2 blocks from home!” I just might have slapped that boy if Valentine’s Day wasn’t tomorrow! 😀
