Family Fun Friday

We went swimming for Family Fun Friday last Friday. My boys just LOVE this pool! I wonder why.

Yes that is a pirate ship in the middle of the pool!

Coming out of the tunnel that goes through the bottom of the ship.

This wonderful baby sat in her car seat for a while before I had to hold her. Amazing baby! My boys never never would have done that!

James coming down the slide.

Pretty sure there is nothing cuter than a chubby baby in a swimming suit!

Watching every one play.

James is quite the little fish in the water! And he is fearless! We have to keep a close eye on him because he would bounce his little body straight to the deep end! This pool has the beach style entry which is really great for Gideon. The water is extremely warm too, which is great for kids. Faith didn’t actually get in, but maybe next time. 🙂

Family Friday : At the Zoo

Last Friday for Family Fun Friday we went to the Denver Zoo! Gideon had never been to a zoo and James had only been to one over a year ago. It was a chilly 45 with a slight wind so it was kinda cold, but I had my heart set on going. It was going to be $40 for all of us to get in so we ended up buying a family pass. It will pay for its self very fast.

The kids were excited to see the animals. We were there for about 2 1/2 hours and I’d say we didn’t even see half of the zoo.

Giraffes! I think they are my favorite!

Sea Lions. We watched them for a while swimming on top of the water before we knew about this underwater glass. The sea lions swim right up to the glass.

This was the elephant pen. It kinda felt like jail. On a more positive note I have never seen such a neat set up for elephants before. The whole elephant part had a feel of being in Sri Lanka. Not only do you get to see elephants but you get a lesson in geography and culture too too! Very neat!

Our little map reader. Did you know that toddlers that read maps walk. very. very. slow?

Showing Daddy where he want’s to go next.

Rino. Why do the animals always stand with their backsides to you?

I think I’ll wait for it to warm up a bit before we go next time. The animals were not very active because it was so cold. They were all sleeping in the sun (which I can’t blame them for that. I love to do that too!) Money-bags-Daddy bought both the boys stuffed alligators at the gift shop. They are huge, about the size of Faith! I think they have played with them every day since, and go to sleep with them every night.

We got four one time use tickets to get into the zoo for free. Come visit us and we’ll take you! 😀

Family Day Out in Breckenridge

On Fridays I try to get my home-loving husband, and grumpy children out of the house for a family day.  It doesn’t have to be the whole day, but something special.  Two Fridays ago we went swimming at a new pool.  That was great fun, but I forgot my camera! Last Friday we drove into the mountains to Breckenridge for the day. Breckenridge is a ski resort town. We had a blast! The highlight of the day was riding on the gondola. As we were walking to it I was trying to calculate how much we were willing to spend it ride it.  We were absolutely shocked when the lady told us it was free!

James could hardly contain himself, he was so excited! When it was over I had to physically carry him off (kicking and everything). The next few days afterward he has been asking to “go on a ride” every morning. And if you haven’t heard a 3 year old try to say gondola than you are missing out!

It was the perfect place to nurse Faith too! It was just us and is a 10 minute ride up and 10 minute ride down. We rode it twice a few hours apart, so I nursed Faith both times we took a ride.  It was perfect! (She’s not actually nursing in the picture. Just waking up and thinking about it)

Daddy and Gideon

Even Faith liked looking out the window.

We also went to a toy store. They had a nice place to play with a train table:

A little trampoline:

And a kitchen with a little shopping cart. We thought it was pretty cute that Faith could fit in the cart. Too bad she can’t sit up yet.

There is tons of shopping to do but we didn’t feel like dragging the kids around town. There is also a children’s museum and grandparents are free. 😀 So we think some grandparents should come and play with the kids at the children’s museum while Titus and I shop. 😀 😀 Otherwise the museum does something called “Parents night out”. For a fee they watch your kids for about four hours. The only problem is that I have a really hard time leaving my kids with a bunch of people I don’t know. I don’t care how much screening they do.

Oh, and the buses are free around town. We didn’t have time to do that, but James and Gideon would love it! Maybe next time. This Friday if the weather is warm enough I really want to go to the Zoo.

On a sad and different note, my computer is un-usable at the moment, perhaps forever. I am trying to not complain too much about it, but it’s really hard. Since moving the internet has become even more personable to me because all my family and friends are far away. It’s the biggest way I get to interact with other people. But it is just a computer. I found out last Sunday that a lady I had taken a few meals to died on Friday from her brain tumor. I used to go witnessing in downtown Minneapolis when I lived up there, and I have been getting e-mails for the last few months from the leader about his wife who is dying. At the moment I am reading the Dugger’s new book, A Love That Multiplies, which starts off about their preemie baby and how hard that was. In light of all these circumstances my computer not working is a very very little thing.

I can use Titus’ computer in the mornings and when he is at class. I just won’t be on facebook as much or write as many blogs. Donations are now being accepted! Just kidding……

My First Day of Pinterest

I have avoided Pinterest for years for several reasons. A. I felt like I spent too much time on the internet already, why would I add a new addiction? B. I had heard that it’s hard to not measure up to what other people are doing on Pinterest. Why would I set myself up for failure? My cousin told me that yes it does take time, but it’s some of her more productive time spent on the internet. Plus I tend to be a pretty confident person. I also am not very creative. I need others to inspire me! So a few days ago I joined, and yesterday (Thursday) I did a bunch of Pinterest inspired things. 🙂 Why in the world I did a bunch all in one day I’ll never know. Here are my successes, and failures. 😉

I’ve been wanting to make a beef pot pie for the last few months, but don’t have a recipe. But I found this one on pinterest and tried it. The crust was an utter failure! But the rest of it was pretty good.  I made a few changes (no mushrooms cuz of the hubby) and I think I will add in green beans next time. The hubbs hasn’t tried it yet so I’m not even sure there will be a next time.

Then I had ‘pinned’ a bunch of ideas on how to take cute pictures of Faith. This is where it gets interesting. The first one didn’t go too badly.

I like their background better, and I think it would have helped my picture a lot if mine had been different. I did try some outside, and the lighting was sooo much better, but too bright for Faith.

This one wasn’t too bad either. I just didn’t make my words big enough and didn’t have time to try to print off new ones.

This went pretty well!

It all goes down hill after that though. I thought this was so cute, but it didn’t go so well.

Double fail!

I decided I was too close and backed up. Epic fail!

This is the best one I got. I decided that a. the baby in the picture is way way smaller than Faith. and b. he/she has some serious head control for a baby so small.

What about you? Are you successful in doing your Pinterest projects? And can someone tell me the point of following someone on Pinterest? Is it just another way to stalk someone? Or to give you ideas? If so then you should really only follow people that have the same likes and interests as you, right?

100 Days Celebration!

Guess who is 100 days old today?

On the baby calender I have for Faith it has a sticker for 100 days old. I thought it would be fun to have a little party to celebrate that!

I blew up 100 balloons (Titus helped a little bit) to signify each day of Faith’s life.

James and Gideon had a blast running through the balloons!

You can’t have a party without cake!

I made the prettiest pink cake!

We love you Faith! And we have had so much fun these last 100 days.

I just discovered yesterday that I have been running a week ahead in March. I’m sad and heartsick to say that since I have been off a week we didn’t not celebrate Faith’s 100 days old on 100 days, but on 93. 😦 I am so sad and frustrated with myself.

The Penner Family as Snowmen

If anyone knows me well knows I don’t like to “play” in the snow. I’m not fond of sledding, I HATE snowball fights, even snowmobiling isn’t that fun (but I’ve only done that once or twice so maybe I haven’t given it a good enough try).

Anyway, James has been asking to make a snowman and we got an inch or two of very wet snow last night.  So I hid my displeasure and while Faith took her  morning nap the boys and I went outside and made a snowman family.

I am obviously not very good at this.  The middle snow ball ended up the same size as the bottom snow ball. 😦

And then when I put it on top of the first snowball it broke all over the place. James kept saying, “It’s okay Mommy. It’s okay!”

James got really good at rolling snowballs.

Gideon liked to pat snow on top of the heads.

James tried to dig up some rocks for eyes, but it was a lot of work so we abandoned that idea after just a few.

Almost done, the “noses” were momentarily being eaten so we had to wait until Gideon was done with that!

The  Penner Snowman Family

I actually had a really fun time and I think it’s because it was so warm  outside.  Whatever it was we had fun!

Can you imagine the Duggers making their family into snowmen?
